• My name is Ismael Ramos Soler Ismael, and I run Aleli Tours in Puerto Rico. I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. I am the son of an English professor and a merchant marine, and I’ve always felt connected to the water. I’ve spent most of my childhood and adolescence sailing, swimming, water skiing, and surfing. I later received a B.S. in biology, M.S. degree in Coastal Zone Management and complete most requirements but my dissertation for a PhD. in marine sciences.

    Sailing is my passion, and I’ve represented Puerto Rico in the 1977 world Hobie 14 Championships in Lanzarote, Spain. I’ve sailed extensively in the Caribbean on private and charter sailboats as a captain. I was also an ecology, biology and marine sciences professor for ten years, and in 1986, I ran a small guest house and restaurant in La Parguera , where I started taking tourists out to the coral reef on my sailing catamaran, Aleli. I taught the tourists about the marine environment the same way I did with my students in the past: doing ecotourism, long before the concept was established. I’ve also acted as an environmental consultant for the public and private sectors.

    My love for the environment and my passion for my job have led me to offer the best in sailing, snorkeling and kayaking tours in beautiful Puerto Rico. As a USCG certified captain, marine biologist and ecologist, I hold over 20 years of experience and love to provide my customers with a different learning experience about the ocean and its ecosystems.

Private Charter by Sailing Catamaran

Aleli Tours is basically a one-man band operation. Captain Ismael delivers real and thorough information on his environmental tours. His knowledge of the ocean was not learned in a half-day seminar, but through a lifetime of academic and hands-on experience. So guests are sure to acquire accurate information during their tours. Even when Captain Ismael needs staff, he chooses special friends who can assist him without affecting his delivery and quality.

Guests of Aleli Tours have a chance to explore the celebrated beauty of Puerto Rico’s mangrove forest on board a small 19-foot skiff. Aleli tours also offers a sailing experience on a catamaran, which can include learning the ropes.

Although he prefers small groups, Ismael can provide guided tours on kayaks for up to 20 people. He recently added a 50-foot power tour boat to his fleet, designed for 30 passengers and perfect for company tours and for longer trips to Mona Island, also known as the “Galapagos of the East.” One of the most successful tours with Aleli include exclusive sailing around La Parguera, a small fishing village in southwestern Puerto Rico which offers one of the best preserved coral reef systems and mangrove forests in the Caribbean, and has become an international tourist destination in the last 20 years. Guests will sail aboard the Jeanneau Lagoon 37' Catamaran, which can host 6 guests in three private cabins. It also features a full kitchen, a/c, hot water, fresh water maker, microwave oven and a spacious dinning table. Other features include spacious decks, a trampoline and a shaded cockpit, while guests are provided with kayaks, snorkeling gear, dinghy and life jackets.
